Franklin Park Elementary School in Fort Myers, Florida, boasts a unique and evolving history. Opening its doors in 1958 as an all-black elementary school, it underwent a significant transformation in 1970, becoming an integrated middle school. Just seven years later, in 1977, it was renovated and reverted to an elementary school, continuing its vital role in the community. The school's journey recently entered a new chapter, with a promise made in 2018 by the school district to rebuild the campus if a half-cent sales tax was approved. This commitment came to fruition in 2023 when the old school was demolished, and students moved to a temporary campus. Finally, in 2024, a brand-new Franklin Park Elementary School opened, marking a new era for this historically significant institution.
